Statement Regarding Mayor Novak's Resignation

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ***

At 9:06pm CT on Tuesday, June 16th, the City Clerk’s office received a resignation letter from Mayor Katy Novak. That next morning, my office acknowledged receipt of this letter and informed the City Council of its arrival. My office also reached out to Council President Theresa Westfall to inform her of the resignation letter and confirm her status as acting mayor.

Acting Mayor Westfall has called for a special session of City Council to be held on Monday, June 22nd, 2026, at 6:00pm to formally accept Mayor Novak’s resignation.
